Texas Central Railway
YOU CAN REACH ME BY “RAILWAY”
Maybe I’m late, but I haven’t heard anyone talking about the new railway! Well, I think it’s GREAT!! Mainly because it’s not coming out of taxpayers pockets. Also, it will create thousands of jobs.
Texas seems to always be a step behind in technology. But, I guess is better late than never….eh?
- What are your thoughts on the new railroad system?
- Will this have an effect on your mode of transportation?
- How will it effect your city?
Anyone out there can comment…
Texas Central Railway has been working for several years to promote our vision of a privately financed, built and operated high-speed passenger rail system connecting Dallas and Houston. Today’s publication of an official Notice of Intent (NOI) in the Federal Registry is an important regulatory milestone in transforming an idea we have been advocating into a reality that will offer Texans the fastest, safest, most reliable, comfortable and convenient form of intercity travel in the nation.
Although the system’s eventual operator will be a for-profit private-sector firm, passenger rail is an industry that is regulated by the government at the federal, state and local levels. The NOI issued today marks the beginning of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process, during which both the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will lead a multi-agency effort to study various alignments, analyze potential environmental impacts, and solicit public feedback on the proposal.
The entire cost of this review process is being paid for by TCR rather than taxpayers, and will emphasize our continuing commitment to respect the private property rights of our fellow Texans.
